Answers to Prayers: The Power of Strategic Prayer
I have seen answers to prayer, and without the slightest doubt, I know that God answers prayer. Over the years, I have witnessed God heal people, change impossible situations, and open doors that human effort alone could never open. While every answer to prayer is significant, one particular experience stands out because it taught me a lesson that has shaped my entire approach to ministry: the power of strategic prayer.
This happened during my high school years, in the early stages of my faith journey.
One day, during a school assembly attended by hundreds of students, I was standing in the front row watching the Senior Prefect. I noticed him looking around and reaching for a small Gideon Bible, apparently searching for a passage
Then something remarkable happened.
During my final term in Class Five, the Vice Principal called me and appointed me as the Assembly Prefect.
Suddenly, the very platform I had been praying about was placed in my hands.
On my first day as Assembly Prefect, I brought out my Bible and prepared to share a message during the assembly. My assistant quickly warned me, "Don't try it. Students are not allowed to preach."
But I had spent months praying for that moment.
I stood before hundreds of students, teachers, and the Principal and shared the Word of God. When the assembly ended, the Principal approached me and expressed his appreciation. Several teachers also told me they had been blessed by the message.
That day became a turning point.
What had once seemed impossible became acceptable. Students began sharing messages on the assembly ground, and the practice continued beyond my time in the school. The influence extended to subsequent student leaders, just as I had prayed.
Looking back, what makes this testimony memorable is not simply that God answered my prayer. It is that He taught me the value of praying strategically. Through that experience, I learned that prayer can also be intentional, purposeful, and visionary. Strategic prayer involves discerning God's desired outcome, defining clear objectives, and then partnering with Him consistently in prayer until those objectives become reality.
That lesson has stayed with me throughout my ministry. As I have navigated different seasons of leadership and service, I have repeatedly seen the tremendous power of strategic prayer. When we pray with purpose, clarity, and persistence, we position ourselves to participate in what God desires to accomplish. Strategic prayer helps us move beyond merely reacting to situations; it enables us to shape the future through faith and alignment with God's purposes.
Prayer is powerful, but strategic prayer is powerful with direction. It sees beyond the present moment, embraces God's possibilities, and perseveres until those possibilities become reality.
